In our quest for more innovation and outreach, here is another first in Pakistan. We have recently developed a series of posters in Urdu language to educate and mobilize the mountainous communities about ‘Glacial Lake Outburst Flood’ (GLOF).

The five colorful posters are developed for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)-funded ‘Pakistan GLOF Project’.

With universal specifications, the beautifully designed posters inform readers about GLOFs, including the risks associated with GLOFs, how should communities prepare themselves to avoid possible damages, signs and symptoms of GLOFs; and means of sending early warning to families at risk.

These posters are useful as one-off, as well as part of the curriculum for Disaster Risks Reduction (DRR) Training on GLOFs for communities in the northern part of Pakistan.

There is one poster that is specifically developed for children to educate them about GLOFs. The idea is to distribute it widely for display at schools in the Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral region.

The posters are useful for NGOs, education institutions, government departments, and other public and private offices.
